Located in the northwest corner of Los Angeles, California, the San Fernando Valley Branch began in 1931 with six women who wanted to make a difference. We sponsor a variety of events, issues, and interest groups. Our branch has always been a very active participant in the drive to open educational opportunities for women. We have established four fellowships and three research and projects grants. Every year, we send middle school girls to AAUW-CA’s Tech Trek science summer camp and college women to the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL).
Monthly general meetings are generally held on the third Saturday of the month at various sites throughout the San Fernando Valley. They usually involve lunch and a speaker. Program topics include a variety of issues affecting women and the community such as universal health care, women of Iraq, ballot propositions and heart disease.
